About Nettleham Infants

Nettleham Infant school is set in the village of Nettleham just north of the city of Lincoln. Built in 1972 it is a coeducational infant school with; at any given time approximately 160 children on roll. The school is organised into six classes: two Reception classes (4/5 yrs), two Year One classes (5/ 6 yrs) and two Year Two classes (6/ 7 yrs). Each class contains children of varying abilities and they may be taught as a whole class, small group or as an individual.

The school grounds include a fenced pond, a butterfly garden, and a wooded area to encourage a variety of wildlife into the area. Children are able to see and study this wildlife first hand in their natural habitat. Our school grounds extend the learning environment for the children beyond the confines of the classroom. The children also have access to wheeled vehicles and other play equipment providing them with opportunities for vigorous exercise.

The Reception classes have access to a fenced outdoor area with a cover where they can take part in a variety of activities that will extend their fine and gross motor skills as well as enable them to investigate and make sense of the world around them. Inside the school there is a large hall area that houses a wide range of apparatus which the children will access during P.E lessons to improve their co-ordination and movement skills. The school also works in partnership with a variety of after school clubs who provide activities in the hall.

The school has developed a close working relationship with Nettleham Juniors to ensure that pupils transfer with little disruption. Staff are working together to ensure that the transition between the two schools is as straightforward as possible. Nettleham Infant School is also a member of the Primary School Clusters attached to both William Farr and Cherry Willingham comprehensive schools.
