Governing Body

Our Governing body has the responsibility for the leadership and management of the school. It oversees the school’s finance, staffing curriculum, public relations and the maintenance and improvement of premises.

Sub – committees meet regularly to focus on key aspects of school management and the Full Board of Governors meet at least once a term to determine the actions that need to be taken to maintain and improve standards in the school. An annual report and meeting for parents is arranged at some point in the school year.

Our Governing body has representatives from many areas of the local community, including parents, teachers, local schools and colleges and the local council. The head teacher is also on the governing body.

Parent governors are elected by the parents and hold office for four years. We invite those parents who want to play an active part in the day to day running and management of the school to stand for election to the school’s governing body when a vacancy arises.

The role of the Governing Body is to:-

v     Establish the aims and policies of the school and ensure a high standard of education for the children.

v     Decide in general terms how the school should be run.

v     Draw up the school development plan.

v     Decide how to spend the school budget.

v     Make sure that the National Curriculum and Religious Education are taught.

v     Appoint staff.

v     Act as a link between the school and the local community.

v     Draw up and monitor the school action plan after inspection.
